Latin 1, Part 1
Welcome to Latin 1, Part 1.
Joining a continuous stream of written words together presented a considerable challenge to the casual Roman reader. For us, this fact underscores the critical significance of the Latin word terminations, especially the all important verb endings.
As we begin our our study of this classical language, our 7th Graders have become familiar with Latin vocabulary, readily recognizable by its obvious English derivatives.
Most recently, the students came to realize that in fact a considerable store of Latin vocabulary is already known to them, since many Latin words have endured unchanged through the centuries.e.g.,arena, senator, radius.
Through the examination of sentence structure in English, our 7th Graders are reviewing their parts of speech, and the essentails of the vaious types of sentences.
